In einem Interview mit Collider hat der Schauspieler John Cena neue Informationen zum kommenden Bumblebee The Movie gegeben.

Collider: What was the appeal of that, for you? Were you a Transformers fan?

John Cena: I was actually alive when they first came out and was at the age to enjoy them. I was a superfan of Transformers and the rival Gobots. I know Transformers is gonna kill me for saying that. To be able to see where the franchise went and where they are taking it now, I thought it was extremely interesting. I can’t talk too much about it, but I really think everyone who enjoys what they were, initially, and what they became, and wants to further the stories, it’s so very story based. It’s so awesome! It’s not too busy. It’s really a fun movie, and I think people are gonna like it.

Collider: It’s a cool idea because it can be a part of the Transformers world, but still do its own thing.

John Cena: I think so. I think it’s gonna open up the floor, for people who are truly passionate about Transformers, to want to know more about these individual Transformers and the story behind each Transformer.

Collider: What was it like to be a part of the Transformers universe with Bumblebee?

John Cena: Awesome! That’s what’s great about the movie business.

Collider: That’s one of those movie magic movies.

John Cena: Yeah, where you’re acting with a stick. You have to be dramatic with a stick. In the WWE, we call it working with a broomstick. You can get in there and have a match with a broomstick. I think it’s just a different method to tell stories. That’s what I enjoy most. Do I love to laugh? Yes! But what I enjoy most is to be able to use your imagine to tell a story. So, it was a different challenge, but I loved it. I hope everybody sees that and they dig it.

Collider: I’ve been a really big fan of what Travis Knight has done with stop-motion at Laika. How was he to work with, as a director?

John Cena: He is awesome! When you wanna redefine the look of something and the feel of something, they chased Travis and really were a fan of his work, as well. I wanted to be a part of the film, but sitting with him and having a 45-minute conversation with him, I really wanted to be a part of the film. He has such passion and such a vision for what he wants to see. Even with this process, he sticks to what he wants ‘cause he can see it. It’s pretty cool, when you just have sticks and artificial stuff, but he sees it. He absolutely sees it, and it’s really impressive.
